julie delpy is such an inspiration to me. she is uniquely beautiful, charmingly intelligent and has so many talents. she is an amazing actress and such a talented writer and director. many of her movies i’ve seen cast her as a strong willed, liberated women with some tendancies in self destruction and breakdowns. i think i relate to these roles so much because it feels real. it feels non romanticized and real. i think that is so important in art and it inspires me to live more artistically when i am reminded that it doesn’t feel like a movie no matter how well you’re living. i think i’ve always gotten caught up in books and movies and the romantic and unrealistic nature of most of them. it took me a while as a kid to realize that no one lived like that. i think julie delpy and her films intrigue me so much because they show this cross between hard truth reality and romantic story lines and charming people. and that there can be charm, intrigue, romance and art in these lives that we lead. it gives me hope and it makes me feel better about where i’m at.
